Getting Started
Welcome to my blog! Here is a little bit about me and how I got into cake decorating...
The Past:
It all started on my 12th birthday when my mom was making my birthday cake and I wanted to help. I looked at her decorating book and turned to the flowers page. I read the instructions and found my hidden natural talent. Through my teen years I loved watching cake shows on the Food Network channel such as Ace of Cakes. It inspired me to do cake decorating as a hobby.
The Present:
For the past 3 years I have been making cakes for family and friends whenever I get the chance. So far I have been completely self taught but just recently I have branched out and now am taking classes to further my ability. The reason I started this blog is to get my name out in the public in hopes to have more oppurtunities in making cakes for people. I make the cakes straight from my home apartment kitchen. My objective is to have people let me practice my cake decorating skills on them. This isn't a professional business so my prices are low just to cover the cost of the supplies and products used to make the cake.
The Future:
Once my husband graduates from college and we buy a house (let's hope for 2014) I am wanting to expand my cake decorating business and make it official (this is when I will start charging more). I will still be working from home but in a much larger professional scale. I hope to have a kitchen in our basement specifically designed only for my business and a room where I can meet with my clients along with a display of my cakes.
